Goodbye Cowtown, Hello Vancouver (Soon)

Morning/afternoon/evening all.

Time to get on board that Bus bound for them there hills!

Well it will be at 23.15 this evening arriving in Vancouver at 14.45 tomorrow.

Spent yesterday after our game, going to the saddledome to watch Calgary Flames getting beaten by Anaheim Ducks 2-1 (Ice Hockey).

I think sport the world over is being priced out of everyone but the mature and well off. I could've counted the young future of Calgary near me on slightly less than two hands. Still losing to a team with the monicker 'Ducks' is probably as low as it gets

Anyway, many a good memory of the cityso far, but I was caught by this shop whose name and colours seemed to have a certain je ne sais quoi!

I tell you, if we don't solve the problem of resistance in anti-biotics, this sort of bacteria will spread like a plague!

Its even red white and blue with a Need Cash sign. Spooky....

Safe travels. I was in Vancouver for a month during the summer... The surrounding countryside is beautiful. I travelled north a few times to a place called Hope...

All the best Matt...

Allright WG,PJB

Got a few hours to kill before bus across the wilds.

A contact via CQN has got in touch and has arranged for me to see Celtic vs them on Sunday at 4.40am.

This is turning out even better than I thought and while Canada is not as culturally challenging as some other places might be, the size of the country, the winter weather, and the 'so many things to do' syndrome can prove disabling.

But what a country and what magnificent people whether they are Indians, Cowboys, immigrants, or Calgary Transit Police officers.

Try an Irish cream coffee with pepper. On second thoughts don't!

I did by mistake, and working on the basis that the great discoveries are made by accident, I thought "This will probably be magnificent".

It was keeeech!

Anyway off we go now to the cultural centre of 8th Avenue - the James Joyce pub!

Hi Matt,

I enjoyed eating in Cin Cin, an Italian restaurant in Vancouver; a bit pricey but good fresh food especially good on desserts.

Make sure you enjoy your breakfast drink when we beat the huns next week. There's no better entertainment than seeing the ball lie behind a hun goalie.

All the best

SFTB,

Last post before the off (unless I can find another hotspot.

When I hit Vancouver, it will be a few hours rest then Gas Town and China Town.

Hope to get across to Victoria CSC as well before the game at the Library Square Public House on Georgia Street.

BTW, Calgary on a Sunday is like Sundays used to be in town.

It is quiet, peaceful and relaxed.

It was only today that I realised just how much I miss that.

Just started reading a book called the Buffalo Hunters (bought in the Glenbow museum)by Mari Sandoz - excellent and worrying!

Anyway for the moment

Hail Hail
